As Account Director you will be responsible for managing the following: day-to-day relationships with clients, drafting press releases, pitching to journalists, approval processes, logistics and securing press coverage. We are looking for PR professionals with at least 3 years’ experience of leading client media campaigns, ensuring that strategies are developed and followed through.  Candidates should have existing relationships with international cultural media contacts, and have demonstrable experience of delivering coverage in a range of media outlets including print, broadcast and online.

Please note we are happy to consider applications from Account Manager to Account Director level and the final position and salary offered would be dependent on experience.


  • Excellent written and spoken English is essential. Other languages including Mandarin and Cantonese are desirable

Account Manager, New York

As Account Manager you will be responsible for maintaining the day-to-day relationship with clients and for developing and implementing communications strategies and press campaigns. Your job includes acting as the first point of contact for clients and press, overseeing the approval processes, drafting written materials, pitching to journalists, managing campaign logistics, securing press coverage and managing a team of Account Executives and Account Coordinators.

Account Managers are tasked with managing multiple client accounts at any one time and meet regularly with their Director to ensure strategies and goals are being moved forward as required.

Job Description

PR and Media Campaigns

  • Develops and implements communications strategies with input from the Director, working creatively and efficiently to deliver maximum impact and positive messaging for the campaign
  • Manages the progress of active press campaigns, working to secure the highest level of coverage across client accounts and reporting to the client in a time sensitive manner
  • Proactively shares regular feedback of any major campaign or client developments with their Directorand with the wider team/office as needed
  • Manages a team of Account Executive and Account Coordinator, ensuring there is strong inter-team communication at all times and meets regularly with junior members of the team to set goals and monitor progress of client campaigns
  • Ensures admin tasks executed by the Account Executive and Account Co-ordinator are carried out to the highest standard
  • Actively builds an extensive network of journalist across specialties and regions and regularly meets with key writers and editors to pitch and exchange information
  • Drafts and oversees the issuing of press releases and any written materials for clients, and liaises with them on the approval process
  • Coordinates and supervises press meetings and client events, including interviews, photocalls and press previews
  • Organizes and successfully leads press trips on behalf of the company
  • Drafts guest lists for events and oversees follow up calls Organizes press trips on behalf of clients, remaining within budget and meeting objectives
  • Conceives of and manages social media campaigns and digital initiatives
  • Ensures successful cross-company pitches to key target journalists through proper and timely coordination of information across the teams and offices
  • Keeps up to date with media outlets so that campaigns and pitches are as effective as possible
  • Regularly updates team and wider office(s) on any intel they come across in the media

Client Management and Reporting

  • Acts as the main point of contact for clients and manages the day-to-day client relationship
  • Proactively informs clients of any campaign developments in a timely manner
  • Ensures press cuttings are issued to clients promptly
  • Coordinates media campaigns to keep stakeholders / other PRs informed and ensures messaging is consistent
  • Writes project debrief reports and issues campaign summaries with the Director’s approval
  • Writes AVE reports as required

Team Management

  • Manages junior members of the team efficiently and professionally, ensuring they are trained in all relevant areas of their work
  • Updates their Director regularly on progress and flags any issues or concerns promptly and in the most appropriate manner

Additional Responsibilities

  • Acting as an ambassador for the Company and a role model for junior staff
  • Deputizing for the Director as required
  • Ensuring company website is updated with new team members and client details
  • Attending company, client and industry-related events
  • Communicating with other teams/offices to ensure joined-up Company communication
  • Assisting with pitches to potential new clients, including creating new business proposals
  • Performing any other task as required by Chief Executive, Managing Director or Director
  • Sending media and VIP database contacts to office assistant

Account Executive, New York

As Account Executive you will support your team in ensuring that media campaigns are implemented and strategies delivered in a timely manner. Your job will include drafting and distributing press materials, facilitating incoming media requests, liaising with the press, and contributing to the organisation of client events. This role supports on multiple client accounts at any one time allowing for a varied and stimulating job and you will work closely with your managers to deliver your goals.


PR and Media Campaigns

  • Builds and expands network of journalists and develops thorough understanding of how to pitch and secure press coverage across long- and short-lead outlets
  • Pitches appropriate story angles to the media, driving forward the press campaign on a daily basis
  • Responds accurately and appropriately to incoming media enquiries and requests for press materials and ensures the wider team are fully aware of all communications
  • Issues press releases and invitations on behalf of clients
  • Assists with the organization of press conferences, photocalls and press trips
  • Drafts press releases and other written material for approval
  • Sources images and clears permission for their use in editorial
  • Sets up media images with caption and copyright permissions
  • Schedules photo shoots and requests from film crews and photographers
  • Contributes to the company’s social media channels
  • Prepares press packs for journalists and organises the mailing of releases or other press material
  • Implements social media posts for team’s clients across the company’s platforms

Account Administration

  • Responsible for the administration of client accounts, including the timely clipping, tracking and reporting of press coverage, and effectively manages Account Coordinator(s)
  • Updates all campaign documents for client accounts
  • Assists with the coordination of monthly client meetings and takes/circulates minutes at client meetings as appropriate
  • Plans and organizes press trips and press itineraries, and in some cases travels on behalf of the clientas requested
  • Ensures that all important client and industry dates are entered into the office calendar
  • Maintains accurate client folders, filing and archiving for the team on a regular basis
  • Communicates with other teams to ensure joined-up pitching cross-company and office
  • Assists with client research and books any client-related travel for the team
  • Ensures company website is updated with new team and client details
  • Monitors Google and Cision media alerts

Additional Responsibilities

  • Attends industry events and networking opportunities
  • Regularly updates the company database
  • Contributes to the magazine rota for the office
  • Circulates any relevant industry intel to teams and across offices as appropriate
  • Assists with the training of junior staff and interns
  • Attends client and non-client events in an official capacity
  • Attends the Executive Team bi-weekly meeting and contributes to weekly staff meeting
  • Performs any other task as required by Chief Executive, Vice President or Director


  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 1-3 years of experience in public relations, specifically in the field of fine arts, design, architecture and/or fashion
  • A solid understanding of arts PR and existing knowledge of the arts media landscape
  • Demonstrable interest in arts and culture as well as Sutton’s clientele
  • Ability to work both independently and in teams; and to think creatively and strategically
  • Strong organizational and communications skills, both verbal and written
  • Technical skills with programs such as: Microsoft Office, CMS programs, InDesign, Adobe Acrobat
  • Social media skills and foreign language skills preferred
