MONA
The Museum of Old and New Art (MONA), based in the Tasmanian capital of Hobart, opened in January 2011 and is Australia’s largest private museum.
Owned by collector David Walsh, MONA houses an extraordinary collection of art from rare antiquities to some of the most potent and sensational contemporary art. The gallery sits on a 3.5 hectare (8 acre) peninsular curving into the Derwent River.
Sutton PR works with MONA on their global PR strategy and exhibition programme. Theatre of the World, which has been curated by Jean-Hubert Martin with Tijs Visser opens on the 23 June 2012 in Hobart, Tasmania.
Theatre of the World will be Australia’s largest collaboration between a private and public museum, with 180 works from David Walsh’s private collection at MONA and approximately 300 works from the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery’s collections. The works will be displayed across 17 of MONA’s galleries alongside special commissions and selected loans from other important Australian and international collections. The exhibition will run until the 8 April 2013.
